BRD’s class is in session

Posted: December 5, 2011 in Manufacturers, Tech

BRD has 2 new blog posts up that are the start of a series in which they explain EV tech to the layperson.  You may well know about the tech already but go ahead and give the posts a read.  I think they are a nice window into their product, it’s development, how they approach EVs, and their take in general.

I have already posted about this bus with a link to Jay Leno’s garage.  Theses buses are real, and have been used for the last year in a city in California.  They have 2 that run 24 hours a day there.  And they recharge in 10 MINUTES!  Let me say that again, 10 FREAKIN’ MINUTES!!!!

Why am I talking about electric trucks?  Well other than being the biggest polluters on the road, focusing on big vehicles is the most efficient way of reducing emissions and oil dependency all at once.  Also, how else do you get your race bike to the truck?  Duh! :D

This just in from the Green Transportation blog.

Of course I am waiting for the days when the range is greatly extended so future elmoto privateer racers can drive to the next race in one of these Smiths.  Oh yes, and a half a million gallons of diesel fuel will be saved a year.  Suck it Canada, South America, OPEC, and where ever else we buy oil from! :D

Edit: A video I just found from NBC:

Brammo has repeated a few times on their Facebook page, as of late, that they are on track to reveal the production Empulse and start shipping here in the USA this spring, with excitement to start building around the new year.  If this is true, and Zero continues to make their delivery dates, the Empulse will be about 3 months behind the ’12 Zeros.  But, they aren’t really anything alike other than being electric, so we’ll see if one’s sales affect the other.   Also, Brammo will be delivering Hong Kong’s PD their Brammo Enertia Pluses (that is correct Pluses) soon, so it looks like the long awaited 80 mile range Enertia will be available at about the same time.  Get your pre-orders in now!

I think I remember empulsebuyer’s old site, and this is much better.  Also, he has added some “apps”.  Basically they are calculators to help you figure out how many PV (photovoltaic) panels you need to buy to offset the electric usage of your EV (he has a lot of models to choose from), and help you see how long until your EV is or isn’t saving you money compared to a gas powered bike.  Again, he has many models to chose from.  It is a fun it to play on.
